UVA Grounds

UVA's Rotunda and surrounding Grounds are truly a site to see. The Rotunda provides brochures with walking tours of the Rotunda, the Academical Village, and the Pavilion Gardens. The UTS Northline can take you to and from central Grounds. Use the interactive bus locator to see the route and departure times.

Downtown Mall

Charlottesville's Downtown Mall is one of the longest pedestrian malls in the US. It is lined with shops, restaurants, clubs, theaters, ice skating, and a Children's museum. It also hosts events such as:

  • Fridays After Five - Every Friday from April until September, the Pavilion at the east end of the Downtown Mall hosts free concerts. Check this year's schedule.
  • First Fridays! - Charlottesville has an active art scene, and most art galleries have open receptions on the first Friday of every month, which coincides with this year's meeting. Many of these surround the Downtown Mall.

Historic attractions

Charlottesville has a wealth of historical sites to visit in addition to those that can be found on Grounds. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is a fascinating glimpse into the life of Mr. Jefferson.
